Business use case — at a glance
- Step 1Clarify product strategy
- Step 2Suite if seats are enough
- Step 3Build if tenancy/voice are core
- Step 4Plan phases & acceptance tests
Speed vs control—neither is automatically cheaper.
Build vs buy: AI CRM and automation platform
A practical decision lens for founders, RevOps and IT—not a vendor bashing exercise.
Buy a suite when
- Standard objects (leads, opportunities, cases) cover most work
- App marketplace integrations are acceptable long-term cost
- Single org or simple hierarchy—no reseller tenancy
- Telephony is click-to-call add-on, not product-core call sessions
- Time-to-first-user beats owning the stack
Build (EAIBAP-style) when
- You sell the platform to downstream clients (BPO, vertical SaaS)
- Tenant isolation and audit model are product differentiators
- Voice, campaigns and CRM must share one system of record
- Industry rules ship as versioned packs, not fragile custom fields
- AI tools must execute under your RBAC with requirement-level evidence
Hybrid paths
Suite as system of record for sales + custom orchestration for voice/campaigns (integration hub)—higher integration tax. Or MVP on suite while parallel platform Phase 1 is built for one vertical.
Cost honesty
Suite TCO = seats × years + apps + implementation partners. Custom build = phased implementation (see delivery phases) + ongoing cloud and AI usage. Neither is automatically cheaper.
